Since 2021, I have worked in leadership advisory at ghSMART, where I have shaped more than 2,000 top-team assessments and executive hiring recommendations for private equity firms, hedge funds, and leading corporations in the US, UK, Germany, and Australia.

Before that, I spent 20 years as a professor of English at Northwestern College, where I co-chaired the English Department and served as Director of General Education, Academic Assessment, and the Honors Program. I taught courses in argumentation and stylistics, wrote a German textbook, edited several Shakespeare plays, and published essays in international academic journals.

As an undergraduate at Princeton, I started in physics before shifting to literature and music, later winning the Class of 1860 Prize in the English Department and the Junior Paper Award in the German Department. I earned my PhD in English with honors from Vanderbilt University.

I have also served as marketing director for a Caribbean villa resort, completed an accounting major, and founded a hand-tool studio building luxury mobile apartments in Sprinter vans.

I live at my workshop with my Cavalier spaniel, Lady. We spend our free time hiking and photographing the Colorado Plateau.
